GEA is one of the world's leading manufacturers of gasketed and welded plate heat exchangers, and have more than 75 years of experience in developing and supporting them. Their specialty is helping customers to find solutions for their heat exchanger challenges, and supplying the best in technology to accomplish those answers.

Founded in 1851 as the Ahlborn Company to produce agricultural machinery, they designed and manufactured their first plate heat exchanger in 1930.
In 1979 they became a part of Global Engineering Alliance (GEA), a publicly traded company based in Bochum, Germany.

GEA created GEA EcoFlex in 1995 to focus on gasketed and welded plate heat exchangers under the Ecoflex name. They continued to support the Ahlborn products, and even now supply parts for Ahlborn plate heat exchangers, a tribute to the quality and longevity of our work.

GEA began supplying plate heat exchangers to their American customers in the late 80's, and in 1998 opened their first sales office in the US, in Louisville, Kentucky.

In 2005 GEA acquired FlatPlate Inc. (in York, Pennsylvania) and WTT America (based on Long Island, New York), manufacturers of premier brazed plate heat exchangers, enabling the company to become a one-stop-shop for plate heat exchangers.

In 2006, GEA laid the cornerstone for a new single-location multi-million dollar headquarters for both brazed and gasketed plate heat exchangers, which is on its way to becoming the world's most modern heat exchanger factory.

With our expanded operations, we continue to improve on our vision of "Leading Technologies, Individual Solutions".
